Freddie Bartholomew an English-American actor didn't have a starring role in the action-adventure film "Kim". Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc. (MGM) in 1938 originally announced that the film would be made starring Freddie Bartholomew and Robert Taylor but World War II put an end to the effort. When the film was made by MGM in 1950, it was directed by Victor Saville and produced by Leon Gordon, starring Errol Flynn, Dean Stockwell, and Paul Lukas. In the film, Stockwell (Kim) is an orphaned English boy in 1880's India. He disguises himself as a native and has adventures in the British Secret service.

Frederick Cecil Bartholomew was born in March 1924 and died at the age of 67 in January 1992. He was known during and after his acting career as Freddie Bartholomew. He started as a child actor and was one of the most famous child actors of all time. He was very popular in the Hollywood films of the 1930s. His most famous starring roles are in "David Copperfield" (1935), "Little Lord Fauntleroy" (1936), and "Captains Courageous" (1937).
