Friggatriskaidekaphobia is the original word for the fear of what?
Friggatriskaidekaphobia is a morbid, irrational fear of Friday the 13th. Therapist Dr. Donald Dossey, whose specialty is treating people with irrational fears, coined the term paraskevidekatriaphobia. Perhaps Dr. Dossey has an irrational fear of friggatriskaidekaphobia. Anyway, he claims that when you can pronounce the word paraskevidekatriaphobia you are cured of the irrational fear. I'd like to see the science, however.

I have no fear of Friday the 13th after we moved to a town 300 miles away. Through a blizzard. With two young ones (5 month old didn’t travel well). And me driving our clunker while hubby drove the rental truck. We ended up with a broken water pump. The kids and I got hypothermia. We got a hotel room but I couldn’t walk. I knocked the one lamp in the room over, breaking the bulb of course. While the kids were shivering I decided to get all of us in the shower and we used all the hot water there was. I figured after that Friday the 13th I could probably handle other ones. So I don’t have to learn how to spell that monstrous word. Phew
