The magnificent title of the Virgin Islands fully corresponds to their amazing nature and mild climate. Turquoise waters, white sands, glimpses of juicy green flora – who can think of this place as being a pirate base in the XVII century?

The Islands were discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493 (more than 500 years ago). The heaven's corner, however, had a complicated fate and outlived many owners. The Virgin Islands belonged to England, then to Spain and France.

It's interesting that yet we can't speak of these Islands as a whole unity. Nowadays the one part of them is under US control and the one of the others is under UK jurisdiction.

Before becoming the part of the United States, Virgin Islands were of Denmark property and served as the place of cane cultivation. When the idea of cane fabrication finally failed in 1917, Denmark sold the "poor" soil to the UK for a considerable sum of money.

Now the Virgin Islands are a great spot of flourishing touristic culture.
