Gary Oldman's sister, Laila Morse, has played which character in the British soap opera 'EastEnders'?
Maureen Oldman (born 1945), known professionally as Laila Morse, is an English actress and the older sister of Gary Oldman (born 1958). Morse's acting credits include Janet in the film 'Nil by Mouth' (1997) and Mo Harris in the British soap opera 'EastEnders' (2000-2022). Unlike her brother, Morse did not start acting until she was 51, when she starred in 'Nil by Mouth', which was written and directed by Oldman.
Morse's stage name was suggested by the Italian actress Isabella Rossellini, who was dating Oldman at the time. "Laila Morse" is an anagram of "mia sorella" which is Italian for "my sister". As well as 'EastEnders', Morse has starred in 'Big Fat Gypsy Gangster' (2011) and appeared as herself in 'Dancing on Ice' (2012), 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' (2013), and 'Celebrity Masterchef' (2016).
Mo Harris, also known as "Big Mo", first appeared in 'EastEnders' on 18th September 2000. She arrived with her son-in-law, Charlie Slater, and granddaughters, Lynne, Kat, "Little Mo", and Zoe. Although the character had not previously featured in the show, she was the ex-best friend of long-time 'EastEnders' character Pat Butcher. Mo spends a lot of her time selling poor-quality stolen goods at the local market.
Gary Oldman has had considerably more success in his acting career than his sister. He is known for roles such as Sirius Black in the 'Harry Potter' franchise, Winston Churchill in 'Darkest Hour' (2017), and James Gordon in 'The Dark Knight Trilogy'.
