George Washington Wishbone was a character on the 1959 - 1965 U.S. TV Western series "Rawhide". It is a series that has a portrayal of the challenges facing drovers on a cattle drive in the 1860s, with the drovers often solving problems for the people they encounter. Paul Brinegar (1917 - 1995) played the Western character best remembered as the grizzled chuck wagon cook Wishbone. Brinegar died at age 77 in Los Angeles, California of emphysema.

"Rawhide" was created, produced, and sometimes directed by Charles Marquis Warren. Including Brinegar, key stars of the series are Clint Eastwood, Steve Raines, and Eric Fleming. Gil Favor (Fleming) is a trail boss and together with his drovers (Eastwood, Raines, and others) they handle many challenges to get the job done.

Rawhide was one of the longest running American television Western, exceeded only by eight years of 'Wagon Train", nine years of "The Virginian", fourteen years of "Bonanza", eighteen years of "Death Valley Days", and twenty years of "Gunsmoke".
