How did the monkey die in the 1981 film "Raiders of the Lost Ark"?

The monkey in the 1981 film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" died after he ate a poisoned date. It was late at night, at the house of Imam, where the monkey's master poisoned a bowl of dates in order to kill the archaeologist, Indiana Jones. The hungry monkey grabbed one of the dates for herself; she ate it and died.

The year was 1936. A trained Capuchin monkey was used by the 'Monkey Man' to spy on Indiana Jones while he was in Cairo. Not knowing the monkey's true intentions, Jones and Marion Ravenwood adopt the monkey as a pet. They took it around the town with them. After Ravenwood's apparent death, the monkey was killed.
