In 1911, how fast did a telegram circle around the globe?

In 1911, New York Times decided to conduct an interesting experiment and see how long it would take a telegram to travel around the world. The message had a simple phrase that notified the receiving dispatcher and asked to send this message further. The response time varied depending on the country it reached, but in the end, the message returned to the New York Times office 16 and a half minutes after it was sent. The message reached more than 15 different operators in different countries and traveled more than 26 000 miles in total.

If anyone reads this he will see that it was written on Nov. 1 1960 and addressed to Rev. Martin L. King, who most likely was not even born in 1911.

Not true. You may think everyone does, but like anything else, not everyone knows anyone thing. It depends on your upbringing, surroundingds, knowledge given to others, etc.!! Be realistic. Plus, that's just uplifting yourself and putting others down. Like not everyone in the whole world knows who the USA President is. May seem simple enough, but there are those in secluded locations that don't know much but their own culture. Use your head!!

This was 1911 not 2000 something. I guess 1 week. Figured all the places it had to travel to get to its destination. Oh well. I guessed wrong again.
