How heavy is the human brain?

The adult human brain weighs on average about 1.3–1.5 kg (2.9–3.3 lb), or about 2% of total body weight, with a volume of around 1130 cc in women and 1260 cc in men, although there is substantial individual variation.

Does our intelligence depend on our brain size? This link has never been particularly well-defined. Some people believe humans have the largest brains relative to the size of body in the animal kingdom, which determines our outstanding cognitive abilities. Such confidence is great, but that is incorrect! Whales and elephants' brains are larger than ours, and mice, for example, have the same brain-to-body mass ratio with humans. So, your IQ doesn't seem to depend on the amount of gray matter inside your head.

While Google is not always the best source, when you Google "How heavy is the human brain?" and 99 sites all say 3 pounds on average, I guess maybe the author got it right.
