Enid Mary Blyton (11th August 1897 - 28th November 1968) was a prolific children's author whose books have delighted children since the 1930s. She also wrote under the pseudonym of Mary Pollock. She sold more than 600 million copies, including translations into almost 90 languages. Her first book was published in 1922. Apart from her best remembered books on Noddy, The Secret Seven, and The Famous Five, she wrote on a wide range of topics including education, natural history, fantasy, mystery and biblical narratives.

Sometimes she produced 50 books a year in addition to her magazine and newspaper contributions.

Her life was made in to a film entitled Enid, first broadcast in the UK in 2009, featuring Helena Bonham Carter in the title role. In addition to this film, there have been a number of adaptations of her books for stage, screen and television.

She wrote more than 2,000 books, including 983 short story series books, 186 novels/novelettes, 269 educations books, 271 character books, and 309 recreation books. Enid has also been accredited with more than 10,000 plays, poems and short stories.
