How many elements in the periodic table are made up of five or less letters?
The periodic table is a tabular arrangement of the chemical elements, ordered by their atomic number, electron configurations, and recurring chemical properties. This ordering shows periodic trends, such as elements with similar behaviour in the same column. It also shows four rectangular blocks with some approximately similar chemical properties. In general, within one row (period) the elements are metals on the left, and non-metals on the right.
There are a total of ten elements that are made up of five letters or less, they are:
Argon, Boron, Gold, Iron, Lead, Neon, Radon, Tin, Xenon and Zinc.

Bad grammar in the question, already pointed out by others. I see/hear this all the time during sports telecasts. "The Yankees have won 30 games by three or less runs." "The Celtics have won seven games in a row by four or less points."

This question could have beeen worded better - I completely misunderstood what they were asking for, partly because the incorrect use of "less" annoyed and distracted me!

Since the number is countable, fewer should be used, not less.

Question is misleading. The question could mean number of letters, or it could mean classification of the periodic table. The question could have been worded better.
