North America consists of twenty three (23) wholly independent countries. They include the United States, Canada, Mexico and 7 Central American countries (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama) and 13 Caribbean island countries, which include: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.

North America's southern border is where Panama meets Colombia, and water borders everywhere else. Specifically, North America is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, the Arctic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.

North America is the world's third largest continent. The world's largest island, Greenland, is physiologically part of North America, though it is often overlooked because of its political and cultural association with Europe. In reality, however, Greenland is geographically closer to Canada at its nearest point than it is to Europe, although it is an autonomous part of Denmark.

Among the most visited North American countries the number one is the USA, where New York City is considered the most attractive landmark. Next, there is Mexico which is followed by Canada.
