How many years did 'Sleeping Beauty' sleep?
In the original fairy tale of "Sleeping Beauty", it states that Sleeping Beauty was asleep for 100 years. "Sleeping Beauty" ("The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods") is a classic fairy tale about a princess who is cursed by an evil fairy and must sleep until she awakened by a handsome prince.
Those concerned with children stories tell us that the tale was first published by Giambattista Basile in his collection of tales titled "The Pentamerone" (published posthumously in 1634). Basile's version was later adapted and published by Charles Perrault in "Histoires ou contes du temps passé" in 1697. This is the version that was later collected and printed by the Brothers Grimm and was an orally transmitted version of the literary tale published by Perrault.
In the classic tale, it is concerned with jealousy, the evil witch Maleficent curses Princess Aurora. She is to die on her 16th birthday. Thanks to Aurora's guardian fairies, she only falls into a deep sleep that can be ended with a kiss from her betrothed, Prince Phillip. To prevent Phillip from rescuing Aurora, Maleficent kidnaps and imprisons him. The good fairies are the last hope to free Phillip so that he can awaken Aurora.
