How much do student producers pay to create a film based on Stephen King's story?
Stephen King gives full rights to beginning producers and students to create a movie about his stories for a very symbolic pay of $1. He keeps all the ownership rights of these movies and forbids to use them for commercial purpose. Because of the price, the movies and the producers are called "dollar babies". One of such producers was Frank Darabont who in his twenties created such a movie. King really liked his work, and soon enough, this "dollar baby" became one of the most popular producers.

I am sure there are plenty of restrictions

Sounds good but there are some caveats, including, `And you'll only have a list of 30 stories to choose from, most of which are lesser-known short stories from anthologies like 1985's Skeleton Crew or 1993's Nightmares & Dreamscapes.' There are also other restrictions, such as distribution.
