Hollywood legend Joan Crawford appeared for one week as the character Joan Borman Kane on the 1954 - 1974 U.S. TV soap opera, "The Secret Storm". Joan Crawford took her daughter's soap opera role for four segments because her daughter was recovering from an operation. At the time when Joan played the role, she was 63 years old. Joan's daughter, Christina Crawford, was 28. Christina had the role for just one year (1968 - 1969).
This CBS series was created by Roy Winsor. He was the guy also created the long-running soap operas "Search for Tomorrow" and "Love of Life". Like most operas of the time, "The Secret Storm" was broadcast live. It would later be taped in New York City, New York.
Set in the fictional community of Woodbridge, New York, the series was concerned with the Ames family, their family secrets, and to their all consuming hidden passions.
This soap opera was considered a dark and moody serial. The Secret Storm was good and clever at telling the story of the long-suffering Ames family and their seemingly endless domestic tragedies.
