In 2016 which airline introduced the slogan "To Fly. To Serve"?
Until the early 1970s the UK had two principal national airlines, British European Airways (mainly covering Europe) and British Overseas Airways Corporation (covering the rest of the world). In 1974 they were effectively merged, along with a couple of other small airlines, to form British Airways, a nationally owned airline. BA was privatised in 1987. The wording of its 1989 slogan 'The World's Favourite Airline' was a hostage to fortune and was dropped in 2001 when it became clear that British Airways was no longer the airline carrying the most passengers. Other slogans were tried out and in 2011 it adopted the slogan 'To Fly. To Serve', still current at the time of writing (October 2016). The other airlines' current slogans are as follows:
Cathay Pacific: 'Life Well Travelled',
Emirates: 'Hello Tomorrow'
Singapore Airlines: 'A Great Way to Fly'
