For the record, when Ricardo Montalban appeared in 1970s TV commercials where he talked about the Chrysler Cordoba, he said this:

“I request nothing beyond the thickly cushioned luxury of seats available in soft Corinthian leather.”

The 1975 advertising campaign for the Cordoba was the first time that celebrity spokesperson, Ricardo Montalban, who did ads for 13 years, described a Chrysler with "thickly cushioned luxury of seats available in soft Corinthian leather".

Corinthian leather in fact was not a kind of leather, nor just a phrase to say. Experts in history note that it comes from a basic knowledge of biblical times. Corinth in the New Testament times was Greek, and many of the finest things in the world came from this place. The city was known for its great luxury and for many valuable goods that were traded there. Simply put, in the Chrysler commercial the idea was that the leather in the Chrysler automobile was of the 'highest or most luxurious' quality.
