In an American classic jingle, how does one 4-year old child spell his bologna's second name?
The throwback 80s kids song, sometimes spelled out as "My Bologna Has a First Name," was part of a TV commercial that came out in 1973. It featured a 4-year-old named Andy Lambros, (born October 29, 1969), holding a fishing rod and a sandwich -- presumably with Oscar Mayer bologna on it -- and singing, "My bologna has a first name, it's 'O-S-C-A-R'..." It went on to become one of the longest-running TV commercials in the USA, easily eclipsing the Oscar Mayer "Oh I wish I was an Oscar Mayer wiener" hot dog commercial.
Jerry Ringlien, (July 14, 1930 - July 30, 2007), was the creator of the "My bologna has a first name" campaign, having worked at the company for 23 years and before becoming Vice President of Marketing, according to "Ad Age dot com". Fun fact: he also brought back the very popular Wienermobile.
The following is the "My bologna has a first name" jingle:
My Bologna has a first name,
It's O-S-C-A-R.
My bologna has a second name,
It's M-A-Y-E-R.
Oh I love to eat it everyday,
And if you ask me why I'll say,
Cause' Oscar Mayer has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A!!!!
