Barry Jay Minkow (born March 22, 1966) is an American former businessman, pastor, and convicted felon. Minkow was the boy-wonder business phenom of the 1980s. In 1982, at age 16, he started ZZZZ Best, a carpet-cleaning company, from his parents' garage. The business expanded rapidly and went public in 1986, making Minkow, at age 20, worth more than $100 million on paper. But it was a giant Ponzi scheme and collapsed in May 1987. Minkow was convicted of 57 federal felonies, sentenced to 25 years, and ordered to pay $26 million in restitution.

The scheme is often used as a case study of accounting fraud.

Paroled in 1995, he became a pastor and fraud investigator in San Diego and spoke at schools about ethics. This all came to an end in 2011, when he admitted to helping deliberately drive down the stock price of home builder Lennar and was ordered back to prison for five years. Three years later he admitted to defrauding his own church and was sentenced to an additional five years in prison. As a result of his crimes, he faces having to pay a total of $612 million in restitution—an amount that he will likely spend the rest of his life repaying it.

Not long before being exposed, on April 27,1987 Barry Minkow was a featured guest on Oprah Winfrey's TV show.
