"Psycho" is a 1960 Hitchcock film. The central plot is disarmingly simple. Marion Crane disappears after running off with $40,000 from her firm. People go to look for her, including her boyfriend, her sister and a private detective, Milton Arbogast (he’s following the missing $40,000). Marion chose the wrong place to stop off for the night -- the dreadful Bates motel -- where she has been murdered by the dreadful Norman Bates. Bates is good at covering up his crime and the followers of Marion Crane's trail don't have an easy time of it. Milton Arbogast suffers the same fate as Marion. What will happen to the sister and boyfriend...?

The story is brought to life by excellent acting in the leading roles. Martin Balsam plays Arbogast in one of the most memorable performances of his career.

Balsam, born in the Bronx, New York City, died in Italy in 1996 aged 76.
