Kaa was an enormous Indian python with a length of 30 feet. In Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book (1894), Kaa was Mowgli's trusted mentor and friend who was ever ready to help Mowgli whenever he was in trouble. In stark contrast, Walt Disney did not like the idea of a benevolent snake and thus featured Kaa as Mowgli's enemy in his version (1967). There, Kaa tried to eat Mowgli but his attempts always ended in comical failure.
