The film "Tootsie" (1982) was nominated for ten Academy Awards and Jessica Lange was the only winner for Best Supporting Actress. She played the role of Julie Nichols, a vulnerable soap opera actress. She was a close friend to Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels (Dustin Hoffman), an out of work actor who got a job working with Julie.

In the film, New York actor Michael Dorsey is a talented perfectionist who is so hard on himself and others that his agent (Sydney Pollack as George Fields) can no longer find him work. After a soap opera audition goes poorly, Michael reinvents himself as actress Dorothy Michaels. He wins a part on a TV soap show. What was supposed to be a short-lived role turns into a long-term contract, but when Michael falls for his castmate Julie (Lange), complications develop that could wreck everything.

Jessica Lange was born in April 1949 in Cloquet, Minnesota, USA. She is an actress who is now known for her versatility and intelligent performances.
