In the 1992 film "Glengarry Glen Ross", what was the third prize in the monthly sales contest?
In the movie "Glengarry Glen Ross, Blake (Alec Baldwin) says to a real estate sales team, " You certainly don't, pal, 'cause the good news is - you're fired. The bad news is - you've got, all of you've got just one week to regain your jobs starting with tonight. Oh? Have I got your attention now? Good. 'Cause we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired. Get the picture? You laughing now?"
The heart of this film depicts two days in the lives of four real estate salesmen (Al Pacino as Richard Romaand, Jack Lemmon as Shelley "The Machine" Levene, Alan Arkin as George Aaronow, and Ed Harris as Dave Moss). These guys truly become desperate when the corporate office sends a trainer (Baldwin) to "motivate" them. By announcing that, in one week, all except the top two salesmen will be fired, each man in the sales team makes a last-ditch effort to save his job. They are all working in New York City, New York. Because of its reputation and big real estate market, New York was seen as the perfect location to shoot this kind of film.
This film was adapted from a play by David Mamet and directed by Jams Foley. It was very well received by critics and fans alike who pointed to the actors and how well they performed.
