In the Bible, how old was Moses' brother Aaron when he helped to lead the Jews of Israel out of Egypt?
According to the Bible in "Exodus" 7:7, Moses was eighty years old, and his brother Aaron was eighty-three when they made their demands to Pharaoh and began to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. They led the Israelites out of slavery to the 'Promised Land', after Egypt faced ten horrendous plagues from God.
The specific time in history is observed partly to show how long Israel had been afflicted in Egypt with great troubles and miseries. It began around the time of the birth of Moses, or a little before, as appears from biblical records. The time period truly shows the patience and forbearance of God with the Egyptians, and how just and righteous were the judgments that God used on them.
In Egypt, Aaron was a faithful companion to his brother Moses. He attempted to impress Pharaoh with magical signs, such as changing his rod into a serpent and inducing many of the plagues. Because Moses complained that he could not speak well, God appointed Aaron as Moses' "prophet" (Exodus 4:10-17; 7:1). Between God and Aaron, it is noted that God spoke directly to Aaron only twice.
Aaron is an individual who particularly has a very important role as priest in the Bible. When he is first introduced in Exodus 4:14, he is identified as the brother of Moses and as a Levite, one of the groups of important priests. From the beginning, Aaron is seen as the leading personality at the side of Moses.
