In the Bible who said, "Hell is a place of outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth"?
Jesus never specifically had to teach about the reality of hell. Hell's existence was always taken for granted. Yet Jesus did talk about what hell was like, at one point Jesus said: "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to live your life maimed; rather than having two hands, to go into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched — where worms do not die and the fire is not ever quenched" (Mark 9:43 — 44).
Further, it is explicitly noted in the Bible as Jesus Christ tells the story of the wedding feast. He said,... "hell is a place of 'outer darkness' where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Matthew 8:12). Scholars and theologians have stated that on the whole of Jesus has here turned to the topic of hell to tell people of all "the great indignation" and "tumult of hell". For people to reject hell, it is akin to them rejecting much of the Bible itself.
In the end, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth in hell because the unredeemed will finally see and understand all that they have lost.
