In the 1992 film "A League of Their Own", the name of the baseball team managed by Jimmy Dugan is the Rockford Peaches. Jimmy is played by actor Tom Hanks, and he is in charge of a team in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL).

Two small-town sisters (Dottie Hinson played by Geena Davis and Kit Keller played by Lori Petty) join an all-female baseball league. It is formed when World War II brings American professional baseball to a standstill. As their team hits the road with its drunken coach (Jimmy Dugan), the lady players also include Madonna as "All the Way" Mae Mordabito and Rosie O'Donnell as Doris Murphy.

At the end of the movie, the Peaches meet their league rival the Racine Belles in the AAGPBL World Series. The teams have to play a seventh and deciding game. Critical questions on and off the field must be decided. The lives of some AAGPBL players are better and have more meaning once the seventh game is played.
