Harlen Maguire is one of the main antagonists in the 2002 live action film, Road to Perdition. Maguire is a sinister assassin who works as a crime scene photographer in his everyday normal job. He is a person who has a very pale skin complexion due to constantly working in a darkroom.

Michael Sullivan who is an enforcer for Irish mob boss John Rooney takes it upon himself; he tries to kill Rooney's unstable son, Connor. Problems arise for Sullivan. Connor murders Sullivan's wife. So, Sullivan contacts Al Capone, the gangster and boss of the Chicago Outfit, to get a job. Plus, he is looking to find the whereabouts of Connor.

Capone's under boss Frank Nitti refuses to help Sullivan and instead informs Rooney. Rooney loves Sullivan like a son, but he fears for Connor's safety. He reluctantly allows Nitti to hire Maguire to assassinate Sullivan. As Sullivan and his son visit a roadside diner, Maguire finds them. They have a conversation. Sullivan soon realizes Maguire's hostile intentions; he gets lucky and escapes with his son.

Subsequently, Maguire once more tries to kill Sullivan and son, but he murders a police officer in the process. Using his car, Sullivan manages to flee from Maguire. Finally, by the end of the movie, Michael Sullivan has a very hard decision to make. Will he save his son and his own soul as well by making a final sacrifice?
