In the sport of Quidditch, created by J. K. Rowling, which of the balls has wings?

Quidditch is a fictional sport invented by author J. K. Rowling for her fantasy book series "Harry Potter". It first appeared in the novel "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (1997). It is a dangerous but popular sport played by witches and wizards riding flying broomsticks.

Matches are played on a large oval pitch with three ring-shaped goals of different heights on each side, between two opposing teams of seven players each: three Chasers, two Beaters, the Keeper, and the Seeker. The Chasers and the Keeper respectively score with and defend the goals against the Quaffle (a leather ball); the two Beaters bat the Bludgers (jet-black balls) away from their teammates and towards their opponents; and the Seeker locates and catches the Golden Snitch (golden ball with wings), whose capture simultaneously wins the Seeker's team 150 points and ends the game. The team with the most points at the end wins.

Having had twin girls during the height of the Harry Potter craze, I know these things. I remember when the second book came out, we took the girls to Borders and purchased two books for them. If we hadn't purchased one for each of them, they would have killed one another over a single book.

elizawheeler, I like the series, too. There are illustrated editions now, big, heavy hardbacks, each with an attached ribbon bookmark. I have all that have come out so far (1-5). I might have to wait a while for the next one, though. Jim Kay (the man who illustrated them) isn't doing anymore for health problems.

It is not entirely fictional. Because of the popularity of Harry Potter, it has become a real sport in some colleges in the US (without the broomsticks, of course!). Sort of like soccer (or football to the rest of the world)

Nicholas Miernicki, my son loved that series too. I admit, I really liked them. The characters were a lot of fun to read about. And the movies were really good too.
