In the 1999 film, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, it was Yoda who hoped that he could give Anakin Skywalker an insightful piece of advice about living a full and rewarding life. It was advice that he felt Anakin would one day come to fully understand and use. Master Yoda told the very young (9 years old) boy. "Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.”

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”

Later during their time together Yoda said the following to reinforce his earlier statement: “Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is. Always pass on what you have learned. You will know (the good from the bad) when you are calm, at peace. Passive. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.”

Does Yoda at this early point see Anakin's original motivations for the greater good before he will grow up and fall to the dark side? Can Yoda prevent the boy from becoming a tragic hero?
