One of the biggest misconceptions of the Star Wars franchise is the famous quote Darth Vader says to Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back. In the movie, Darth Vader actually says to Luke, "No, I am your father." The misquote "Luke, I am your father", has been popularized because it sounds a lot better and even made it into Star Wars canon. In the 1994 novel, Jedi Search, it is said that Luke remembers Vader saying to him "Luke, I am your father."
