In the U.S, if a person is a patriotic orator and is practicing "spread-eagleism", the person could be called a jingoist. This term would apply because a jingoist is someone having or showing excessive favoritism towards his or her own country. Jingoism is considered fanatical, over-the-top patriotism. If a person refuses to eat, read, wear, or discuss anything that isn't made in his or her own country, people might accuse the individual of jingoism.

Jingoism has also been called democratic freed pragmatism. It (jingoism) normally counts on a person's active character and may be an ideological product of Americanism. Also, history has shown that Americanism has created an intimidating attitude to other countries and other ethnicities. A self-righteous narrowness in some American politics (activities, actions, and policies of U.S. government) were symbolized when jingoism existed. The image of an American Eagle spreading its wings spread-eagleism was pointedly used in the middle of the 19th century to create a boastful or bombastic display of patriotic or nationalistic pride in the United States.
