Dora Márquez, commonly known as Dora the Explorer, is the title character and protagonist of the American children's animated television series and multimedia franchise of the same name. She is portrayed as a heroic Latina girl who embarks on countless adventures to find something or help somebody in need. Dora's surname Márquez isn’t directly addressed in the series, it’s uncovered in an episode in which Boots addresses her mother as "Señora Márquez".

She's stated as being the cousin of Diego, Alicia, and Daisy which makes her the niece of Diego's mother and father. She's also the older sister of Guillermo and Isabella. She’s also the daughter of Elena and Cole Márquez.

Dora's last name was mentioned twice in Dora the Explorer's episode, Grandma's House and Surprise! when Boots addressed Mami as "Señora Márquez".
