In what year did Jamaica gain Independence?
In February 1962, a new Constitution was approved by the Legislature and the Premier Norman Manley called General Elections.
Alexander Bustamante was elected in April and became the first Prime Minister of Jamaica. On August 6, 1962, Jamaica became an Independent Nation and a member of the British Commonwealth.
Jamaica becoming an Independent Nation, now meant that Britain no longer controlled the affairs of the country. It was now the responsibility of the newly elected Prime Minister and the locally elected Cabinet.

A note to those who disagree.
There are two possibilities in play here:
1. Either you disagree with me out of animus ( Good for you; I hope it makes you feel better. Knock yourself out. LOL) and dislike everything I say or
2. You don't pay enough attention to who posts Q's & A's to realize I am correct.
How is it someone would "join" Quizzclub simply to submit questions without ever playing along? It makes little sense to me. If you can offer a plausible explanation, I'd be happy to consider that. Until then, I stand by my comments.

Thanks for your support. It is appreciated. Sometimes I get so annoyed by these insultingly juvenile questions and I need to vent. A few will argue with me or anonymously dislike my comment, but I find that the vast majority are voicing the same complaints. I stand by my comments until someone can prove me wrong. I won't hold my breath though.
