Titanic is probably the most famous passenger liner of all time. It was a true miracle of shipbuilding of the early 20th century, but was destined to sink in the North Atlantic and take lives of more than 1,500 people.

The legendary ship was constructed in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. The work began in March, 1909 and continued until 1911. Belfast-based shipbuilding company Harland and Wolff worked for the White Star Line. Watertight compartments, located on the bottom of the ship, was thought to be the feature that made Titanic "unsinkable". In fact, as water could spill from one section to another, it literally destined the ship to fail.
