Angel Falls is a waterfall in Venezuela. It is the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall, with a height of 979 metres (3,211 feet) and a plunge of 807 metres (2,368 feet). The waterfall drops over the edge of the Auyán-tepui mountain in the Canaima National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Gran Sabana region of Bolívar State. The height figure 979 metres (3,211 feet) mostly consists of the main plunge but also includes about 400 metres (1,300 ft) of sloped cascade and rapids below the drop and a 30-metre (98 ft) high plunge downstream of the talus rapids.

The falls are along a fork of the Rio Kerepacupai Meru which flows into the Churun River, a tributary of the Carrao River, itself a tributary of the Orinoco River.

The falls were named for an American pilot, Jimmy Angel who was killed when his aircraft crashed in the jungle above the falls. The wreckage was left in place and could still be seen into the 1960s.

Dear Mr. Bell; the real History said that Mr. Angel did not die while discovering for the rest of the World this Waterfall(The local Indians knew perfectly the place and call it Churun Meru falls ) Mr Angel die in 1956, at 57 years old, after another plain crash in Panama.

It was discovered by "Johnny Angel" not Jimmy! And how could he have discovered it if he died in the crash!
