John Joseph Travolta (born February 18, 1954) is an American actor, film producer, dancer, and singer. Travolta rose to fame during the 1970s, appearing on the television series "Welcome Back, Kotter" (1975–1979) and starring in the box office successes "Saturday Night Fever" (1977) and "Grease" (1978).

Travolta had a hit single titled "Let Her In", peaking at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July 1976. He also starred in "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble".

"The Boy in the Plastic Bubble" is a 1976 American made-for-television drama film inspired by the lives of David Vetter and Ted DeVita, who lacked effective immune systems. It stars John Travolta (Tod Lubitch), Glynnis O'Connor (Gina Biggs), Diana Hyland (Mickey Lubitch), Robert Reed (Johnny Lubitch), Ralph Bellamy (Dr. Gunther) and P.J. Soles (Deborah). It was written by Douglas Day Stewart, executive produced by Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg (who, at the time, produced Starsky and Hutch and Charlie's Angels), and directed by Randal Kleiser, who would work with Travolta again in Grease shortly after.
