Actor Robert Redford played the character Hubbell Gardiner in the 1973 film "The Way We Were". Film cinematography was performed by Harry Stradling Jr. Distribution of the film was handled by Columbia Pictures, when the film was released on October 19, 1973 in the USA.
The film was a box office success. It was nominated for several awards and won the Oscar for Best Original Dramatic Score and Best Original Song for the theme song "The Way We Were". The film was also a good commercial success; it grossed 50 million dollars on a budget of 15 millions.
