In which "James Bond" series film is an oil covered dead woman's body found naked on a hotel bed?
"Quantum of Solace" is a 2008 spy film and the 22nd in the "James Bond" series.
In the film, Bond (Daniel Craig) teams up with Camille Montes (Olga Kurylenko).Their aim is to prevent Dominic Green (Mathieu Amalric) and his organization "Quantum" from gaining access to Bolivia's natural reserves. He has been secretly damming the supply of fresh water to create a monopoly.
Strawberry Fields (Gemma Arterton) is an MI6 agent in Bolivia who is sent to persuade Bond to return home to London. Her orders were to pose as missionary teachers and to stay at an inconspicuous hotel, but Bond insisted on the Grand hotel. Bond seduces her, and they attend a fundraising party held by Greene with Fields ending up helping Bond and Camille escape the scene. She is found the next day dead in the hotel suite covered in oil.
Arterton says the scene, which sees her character drowned in thick black liquid, was extremely uncomfortable to shoot. She said: “I couldn’t move, I couldn’t see, I couldn’t breathe or hear because the oil went in my ears. It was unpleasant, but it’s something I’ll always remember and it will be an iconic part of the film.
The scene which sees her lying on a bed covered in oil is reminiscent of the classic 1964 Bond film "Goldfinger", in which the British spy’s lover (Shirley Eaton) is found dead and covered in gold paint. Arterton had to film her character's death scene on her first day on the set, where she was completely covered in non-toxic black paint.
