When you visit any one of the more than 36,000 McDonald’s locations worldwide, you expect to see classics like Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, hot apple pies, and french fries on the menu.

McDonald’s has also tried out branch out and offer new menu items from time to time (although some haven’t remained on the menu for long). In the 1980s they experimented with fast Italian cuisine. The ‘McSpaghetti’ is no longer on the menu anywhere except, surprisingly, the Philippines; the only location where its popularity proved enduring.

The dish consists of a long box of al dente spaghetti noodles, topped with a tomato-based sauce and shredded cheese, with sausage mixed in. You can also order a leg of fried chicken on the side.

McSpaghetti is just one example of the many regional variations on the menu at McDonald’s locations around the world.
