Is it common for a tiger to stalk and hunt a zebra in the wild?

Yes, these animals both are striped but there is a huge difference between them. First of all, they live on different continents, so it is quite clear that they cannot meet in the wild and that is why tigers do not hunt zebras – it is just impossible! Interestingly, tigers' stripes serve them as a natural camouflage while zebras' stripes help them to identify each other.

the zebra stripes are also used as camouflage. when bunch together in herds it can seem from a distance to the tiger or other carnivores as mirage , for example when zebras are bunched up as they naturally do , from a distance it may look like part of the landscape.

I am flummoxed and surprised that so many don't know about the habitats of these two animals as the tiger is strictly endemic to Asia as the zebra is to Africa.

We do have Liger's in South Africa and they are substantially bigger than their relatives. These Ligers live on a game reserve but I personally don't think they would survive without human intervention.

My sister just got back from Kenya. All the animals were amazing and friendly. They saw lions, hippos, giraffes, rhinos, crocodiles, wildebeests, and more, but no tigers, which live in Asia.
