It is true that Germany shares its borders with nine neighboring countries. On the extreme north Germany is bounded by Denmark. To the west of Germany, there are the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium. To the southwest, there is France. The entire southern boundary of Germany is shared with Austria and Switzerland. The southeast border of Germany is shared with the Czech Republic and the eastern most frontier adjoins Poland.

Germany maintains amicable relations with its neighbors who are all members of the European Union (except Switzerland) and also developed nations themselves. Thus, the exchange of goods and services between these countries is allowed freely, leading to the overall economic development of Germany and its neighbors.

Known throughout ancient and modern times for its rich cultural history, Germany has been continuously the home of influential artists, philosophers, musicians, sports people, entrepreneurs, scientists and inventors.
