"Let's get Mikey, he hates everything!" was a commercial for which product?
"Let's get Mikey, he hates everything!" was a commercial for Life breakfast cereal. The little boy playing Mikey was a fictional kid. He was played by John Gilchrist. In this U.S. TV commercial, he was a not so smart person promoting Quaker Oats' breakfast cereal 'Life'.
This was an ad created by art director Bob Gage, who also directed the commercial. It first ran on TV in 1972 and was part of a popular ad campaign that featured Mikey with his brothers.
The commercial remained in regular rotation with others for more than 12 years. It ended up as one of the longest continuously running commercials ever aired on American television. Part of the reason that this commercial was very successful was that it ended on a very happy note. Mikey vigorously consumes the Life cereal before him; this results in his brothers excitedly exclaiming, "He likes it! Hey, Mikey!"
