McDonald, Weirton & Steubenville are all in general proximity of each other in what tri-state region?
McDonald is a SW suburb of Pittsburgh and is roughly on the same latitude with Weirton in the North Panhandle (or OH-PA wedge) of West Virginia (WV). Weirton is on the Ohio River and connected by bridge to Steubenville, Ohio (OH).
Aliquippa & Washington (Pennsylvania {PA}); Wheeling, New Cumberland, Follansbee & Wellsburg (WV); and East Liverpool (in accompanying uploaded photo), St. Clairsville, Martin's Ferry, & Toronto (OH) are also notable cities of the OH-PA-WV tri-state region.
The legendary college football coach Lou Holtz (North Carolina State, Arkansas, Notre Dame, South Carolina) was born in Follansbee but grew up & graduated high school in East Liverpool. Oftimes in speeches Holtz related that in high school his future was football or the 'pottery'. East Liverpool had the first 2 ceramic factories (both long defunct) in America and 1 currently active one in a different venue. Similarly, many great athletes from this general area would say sports or the steel mill/coal mine.
If it doesn't already exist, it's very possible to stage cross country foot and bike races traversing East Liverpool, Chester WV and unincorporated rural western PA.
