Mount Tibidabo is 512 metres high and the tallest mountain in the Collserola range. In Pre-Christian times, its name was Puig de l'Aliga ('Hill of the Eagle' in Catalan). 'Tibi dabo' is Latin for "I will give you" and comes from a passage in the Bible where the Devil tried to tempt Jesus. "They looked down from an exceedingly high mountain upon all the kingdoms of the World, and the glory of them." The Devil then told Jesus: "Tibi omnia dabo si cadens adoraveris me", which translates as: "...I shall give this all to you, if you fall down and worship me" (Matthew 4:9).

The summit of Mount Tibidabo is occupied by the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, designed by Enric Sagnier. The church took 60 years to construct—from 1902 to 1961—and is topped by a sculpture of Jesus Christ by Josep Miret Llopart.

The phrase 'Tibi dabo' is also inscribed in the central dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.
