A double landlocked country is one which is completely surrounded by other landlocked nations.

There are only two double landlocked countries in the world, Liechtenstein being one, the other is Uzbekistan in Asia.

There are 49 landlocked nations, including partially recognised territories, such as The West Bank / Palestine and Transinistra / Moldova. Apart from two of South America, Bolivia and Paraguay, all the rest lie either in Europe, Asia or Africa. North America, Australia and the Arctic regions do not contain any landlocked nations.

Politically, landlocked nations are at a disadvantage as they have no access to the sea. Having said that, Liechtenstein which is doubly landlocked is one of the most prosperous nations, per capita, on the planet.
