In the classic television sitcom, "The Brady Bunch", Carol Brady's maiden name was Tyler. She was Carol Martin, the mother of three girls, when she married architect Mike Brady, the father of three boys.

Originally, show creator Sherwood Schwartz wanted Carol Martin to be a divorced woman when she married Mike Brady. But the network objected. So the part was rewritten with no reason given as to what happened to Carol's first husband, Daniel Martin.

"The Brady Bunch" appeared on ABC for five seasons (1969-1973) and was one one of the most popular shows in television history with it still being rerun in syndication.

The crux of the show was a widow with three daughters marries a widower with three sons and all of the whacky adventures that ensued.

Carol Brady was portrayed by actress Florence Henderson, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 82.

Carol Brady was not just a housewife, although she chose to stay at home. She was a singer, sculptor, political activist and also dabbled in freelance writing.
