On the U.S. TV series "Smallville", what effect does red kryptonite have on Clark Kent?
Red Kryptonite is a variety of Kryptonite. It has various effects on Kryptonians. In the 2001 - 2011 TV series "Smallville", Kryptonite is present in the town of Smallville and removes Clark Kent's personal inhibitions.
Red kryptonite in at least seven episodes makes Clark lose his inhibitions and social conscience. Similar to the effects of alcohol, Clark becomes Kal, who is unpredictable and belligerent. While on red kryptonite, Clark is sexually aggressive (though not acutely sexually active). He is flirtatious and unconcerned with keeping his super abilities a secret. He is disrespectful, uncaring of others' feelings, and can become violently dangerous. He does not swear unless under the influence of red kryptonite.
In a way the red stones are similar to the venom black symbiote in "The Amazing Spider-Man" series of the 1970s. The red stones bring out the darker side of the kryptonian when it comes in contact with Clark. Its effect on Clark in episodes: 'Red', 'Rush', 'Exodus', 'Exile', 'Unsafe', 'Crimson', and 'Upgrade' causes them to be riveting, entertaining, and to move at a fast pace when being watched.
