On the U.S. TV Western series "Hopalong Cassidy", which actor played Hoppy's side kick, Red Connors?
Hopalong and his horse Topper would catch bad guys with Red Connors (Edgar Buchanan) who was mostly present for comic relief. They were on the U.S. TV Western series "Hopalong Cassidy" from 1952 until 1954. In the movies, Hopalong's sidekick was no other than Gabby Hayes. Hopalong replaced him with a couple of others before settling on Buchanan as Red Connors for the TV series.
Edgar Buchanan (March 1903 – April 1979) was an American actor with a long career in both film and television. He is most familiar today as Uncle Joe Carson from the "Petticoat Junction", "Green Acres", and "The Beverly Hillbillies" TV sitcoms of the 1960s. Buchanan died at the age of 76 from a stroke complicated by pneumonia in Palm Desert, California.
Hopalong was a silver-haired hero who was dressed in black and rode tall in the saddle when he was riding his trusted horse and friend. The former film screen idol and popular TV star William Boyd was always clever and astute as Hopalong. He would right wrongs and punish evil criminals. He turned the classic image of good guys only wearing white hats upside down since he wore a black hat.
