On which continent is the river that flows only several months a year located?

The Onyx River is an Antarctic meltwater stream that flows westward through the Wright Valley from Wright Lower Glacier and Lake Brownworth at the foot of the glacier to Lake Vanda, during the few months of the Antarctic summer. At 32 kilometres (20 mi) in length, it is the longest river in Antarctica.

The Onyx River flows away from the ocean, an example of endorheic drainage, as the Wright Lower Glacier blocks the mouth of the Wright Valley. It has several tributaries, and there are multiple meteorological stations along the length of the river. Flow levels are highly variable, both during the day and between summers, with the river failing to reach the lake some years. In contrast, it can cause significant erosion in flood years and was rafted in 1984 by New Zealand researchers. At one time, the river's discharge reached 700 cubic feet per second (20 m3/s).

I have recently watched a documentary on tv about Africa and there was a large river that only flowed in the rainy season and was dry in the summer. There seems to be a lot of badly researched questions lately.

Never heard of the one in Onyx River in Antarctica, but anyone who watches programs about Wild animals would generally put Africa. Not really a very clear question .

There are probably several rivers that flow only several months a year. I live in Southern California and I don't know of any that flow all year.

Plenty of rivers in Australia that only flow in wet seasons. eg the Todd river near Alice Springs which has a dry bed 'regatta' where participants carry a boat with no bottom.

I was thinking maybe an Australian river only during the rainy season, but apparently not.

Ray Anderson, That would be the Okavango, which is subject to drastic changes in flow along its length, but (to my knowledge) is not reduced to no flow for several months each year. (Admittedly, I have not spent an entire year camped out on the banks of the Okavango.)

On which continent is a mountain? The question asked by Carol was just as absurd because on each continent there are rivers which flow for a few months a year and some for just hours a year. Ever hear of a wash or a wadi?

Too silly for words Australia is full of riverboat only flow for a few months in rainy seasons . I went for Antarctica because of the photo. But I am sure South America and Africa would also be correct

The Todd River, which flows through Alice Springs in Australia, is dry for most of the year too. The annual regatta there - the Henley-on-Todd - has been held since the early 60s and actually had to be cancelled once because there was water in the river. Contestants use bottomless boats which they stand in, pick up and run along the river bed course.

Left to its own devices, the Murray Darling basin is a seasonal flow river system. Through Human intervention with dams, locks and weirs it is now kept at a "pool" level, originally to ensure river steamers to operate year round.
