In the 1950s TV series "The Adventures of Superman", Perry White (John Hamilton) is a key witness in a gangster trial. But on the eve of giving his testimony, he believes he hears a ghost. Superman (George Reeves) must act fast to restore White's credibility.

In May 1955 in the season 3, episode 5 "Great Caesar's Ghost", White has a scheduled court appearance where he is to testify against the Morley Confidence Gang. Morley is dead; but, a member of the criminal gang is trying to drive editor Perry White insane. The thug has White thinking that the subject of his oft-heard epithet ("Great Caesar's Ghost") has materialized. Trevor Bardette as Julius Caesar uses clever sounds and a human voice to make White believe that he is hearing things (going insane).

Throughout the entire series, White is the blustering, impatient editor and publisher of the Daily Planet. He is sometimes a participant in the dangerous exploits of Lois (Phyllis Coates), Jimmy (Jack Larson) and Superman. Lois and Jimmy are often called upon to pursue news stories. White likes to treat crooks and thugs with disdain and lofty contempt in his city of Metropolis Daily Planet newspaper.
