On the 1970s sitcom "Laverne & Shirley" the name of Shirley's stuffed animal cat was Boo Boo Kitty. Cindy Williams, who starred as Shirley Feeney in the iconic ABC series alongside Penny Marshall as Laverne De Fazio, was very loving and funny in how she said the name 'Boo Boo Kitty' when referring to her favorite object of affection.

In the show, the writers and producers used Boo Boo Kitty to give Shirley an air of youthful femininity. They gave her the stuffed cat to keep her personal company, to have in her room (apartment) and/or to carry around with her. A doll simply would not do; it had to be a stuffed animal. In this case, Boo Boo Kitty helped to make it really clear that even if the TV character (Shirley) is a woman, she's still very young at heart.
